A Fashion Photoshoot Calgary can happen in many different ways — in a studio, backstage at an event, outdoors, or even in the rain. Some of the most interesting fashion photographs are created in unexpected conditions, where the atmosphere becomes part of the final image

On September 13, 2026, I joined the Bella Bella by Daniela fashion show in Calgary as a videographer. My main focus was video production, but I also wanted to capture a few strong fashion portraits during the event

Whenever the schedule allows, I like to combine photography and video during the same project. This gives the client more content from one event and creates a more complete visual story

Before the fashion show began, I invited several models for a short backstage fashion photoshoot in Calgary. We had limited time, changing weather, and even some rain. Instead of stopping the shoot, we used those conditions to create a different atmosphere and capture unique fashion portraits

And the results turned out beautifully.

Fashion Photography in the Rain

Rain does not necessarily mean that a photoshoot has to be cancelled.

In fact, rain can sometimes create an atmosphere that is difficult to reproduce intentionally. Wet pavement creates reflections, colours become richer, the light becomes softer, and simple accessories such as a transparent umbrella can become part of the composition.

During this Calgary fashion photoshoot, we used the weather instead of fighting against it

I photographed some models around the fashion show location. I also captured backstage moments before the runway began. These images show both the fashion and the atmosphere of the event

By combining portraits, fashion photography, and behind-the-scenes moments, I created a more complete visual story of the show

That is one of the reasons I enjoy working at fashion shows and live events. You never know exactly what conditions you are going to get, so being able to adapt quickly is extremely important.
